1st Choice for Holiday Rentals on Koh Phangan

The tropical island of Koh Phangan has long been seen as Koh Samui’s little sister, but in the last few years the island has really come into its own. With beautiful picture postcard views and beaches spread out all over the island, Koh Phangan can definitely stake its claim as one of Thailand’s most iconic holiday locations.

In recent years, significant improvements to the island's infrastructure, coupled with an increase in outside investment means that Koh Phangan can now boast a variety of excellent resorts, restaurants and also a much wider selection of private villas for sale and rent. This makes a holiday on Koh Phangan both more convenient and more comfortable than ever, yet the island remains far from overdeveloped.

Haad Rin is the best known beach on Koh Phangan and famous for its monthly Full Moon party. The Full Moon is almost a backpacker pilgrimage and attracts about 10,000 revellers each month from all over the world. If huge beach parties don’t appeal, then don’t be put off, however, because Koh Phangan is much bigger than its parties and even Haad Rin is actually split into two beaches, Haad Rin Nok and Haad Rin Yai. The former is home to the Full Moon party and therefore defined by vibrant nightlife all year round, but its neighbour Haad Rin Nok, a.k.a. ‘Sunset Beach’ is far quieter, vastly more idyllic and as the name suggests a great place to chill out and watch the sun go down.

Other beaches across the island also cater to those who want a more leisurely holiday experience. North of Haad Rin is the fishing village of Chaloklum, which has a couple of tranquil resorts and just north of that and only accessible by boat or hike is Bottle Beach. This is arguably the best beach on the island and only let down by its lack of sunrise or sunset views. If secluded swimming and sunbathing is top of the agenda then this is the beach for you.

On the West of the island, Haad Yao is a kilometre long beach where the white sand stretches almost as far as the eye can see and the sea is a perennially majestic shade of azure blue. Cheap but good accommodation abounds here and every night finds a fresh seafood catch being barbequed to perfection in bamboo restaurants along the coastline. Just north of Haad Yai are Mae Haad and Haad Salad beaches where you can find family run shops and restaurants, more white sand and the best snorkeling on the island.

All the above beach areas also offer private villa accommodation, as does the idyllic double bay known as Tong Nai Pan, which is perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches in Asia and also far removed from the chaos of Haad Rin. Global celebrities, sun seekers and families all frequent these gorgeous beaches, which have also drawn a number of investors looking to buld their perfect home away form home.

All in all, Koh Phangan is a diverse island with an unrivalled friendly local atmosphere and a wide range of holiday choices. Whether you want to party until the sun comes up or just relax in the perfect tropical climate, this is definitely the place to be. Koh Phangan is only a 30 minute boat ride from its slightly busier neighbour Koh Samui, and is therefore considered a hidden gem that all visitors to the Gulf of Thailand should visit at least once.
