1st Choice for Holiday Rentals on Koh Phangan

Koh Pan Yang Thailand

Of all the beautiful destinations in Thailand, Koh Pan Yang, as it is often called, is located in the Gulf of Thailand and perhaps the most stunning in terms of natural appeal. An intriguing mix of powdery white sandy beaches and lush green rain forest compliment the island's many hills and cliffs. The warm climate of Thailand ensures a pleasant temperature all year around and unlike on Phuket where the weather and water can get rough due to its location in the Andaman Sea, Koh Pan Yang is protected by the larger island of Samui to the south as well as the mainland. The beaches are some of the best and least visited in the entire country and the island attracts a diverse mix of travellers of all budgets.

Bottle beach on the north coast is perhaps one of the most isolated beaches on the entire island. The only way to get there is by long-tail boat – a traditional Thai craft propelled by a motor that acts both as a rudder and a propeller – or via a strenuous hike from Haad Khom beach. As a result the beach offers more privacy than most and the water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkelling and Scuba diving The beach is long and wide and there is only few accommodation choices available.

If laying on the beach all day is not your thing, head down to Haad Rin for the monthly full moon party. Now an institution on the island, the party attracts thousands of people every month for days of partying on the beach. During the party Haad Rin is filled to the brim with people and prices on accommodation commonly increased in the couple of days leading up to and after the actual full moon party. However, during other times the town is a charming centre for shopping, eating and relaxing in some of the many bars along the wide beaches facing east and west from a small peninsula. The commercial and social centre of the island, Haad Rin has the highest concentration of shops, spas, tourist agencies and other entertainment venues.

Koh Pan Yang also offers an array of choices for the nature loving crowd. The Gulf of Thailand offers some excellent diving and scuba diving courses are taught at various places around the island. If you're already certified and are looking for some fun diving, try to take a trip to Sail Rock to the north of the island towards Koh Tao. The site is relatively deep making it a perfect place to spot some of the larger predatory fish like shark, tuna, barracuda and grouper. The enormous whale shark is also often spotted at this site. The trip usually involves between two and three dives and takes the better part of a full day. Most dive schools offer dive guides and rental equipment against a modest fee.

For those in search of total retreat, it is now possible to rent private villas on Koh Phangan that offer all the amenities of a top class hotel, but come with added appeal of total privacy and personalised facilities. Rental villas are becoming increasingly popular with visitors tot the island as the ideal base from which to explore Ko Pan Yang's many attractions.
