1st Choice for Holiday Rentals on Koh Phangan

Ko Pan Yang

Koh Phangan is a small tropical island situated in the Gulf of Thailand about 55 km from the Thai mainland. Travelling to Koh Phangan is easy, either via plane to Koh Samui’s international airport and then by boat, about 30 minutes from the larger sister island, or via ferry from the mainland, which takes around two hours. Although fishing and coconut farming are still a large part of the island's economy, Koh Phangan is primarily a tourist destination nowadays, and for good reason.

Koh Phangan is home to some of Thailand's most glorious white sand beaches. These range from busier stretches of sand like Haad Rin beach, home of the famous monthly Full Moon party and frequented en masse by party loving backpackers and tourists, to the more secluded bays of Bottle Beach and Thong Nai Pan, which still offer a Robinsoe Crusoe feel, but also boasts some sophisticated accommodation options and dining choices. Haad Yao, on the Western side of the island also caters to those looking for a more relaxed holiday, as do Haad Salad and Chaloklum, both ideal for families and also popular with health seeking holidaymakers, who also visit Koh Phangan for its fine spas, wellness centres and yoga schools.

This tropical paradise island is home to several stunning waterfalls and has great elephant trekking to offer more adventurous travellers. Local attractions also include temples and beautiful pristine waters ideal for either snorkelling or diving. For the serious dive enthusiast, any one of many boat operators and dive schools on the island will take you to all the best spots around the coast and further afield where tropical fish teem around the coral reefs and other marine life, including Whale Sharks are often spotted.

Restaurants and bars abound on Koh Phangan, so there is definitely something for everybody. Thai restaurants are easy to find and generally serve up sumptuous cuisine with good value for money. Keep an eye out for eateries serving locally caught fresh fish. There are also a number of restaurants from all around the world, including great Mexican cuisine like Ando Loco near Thong Sala, a deluge of wonderful Italian restaurants, French, German, English and even Sushi restaurants are all easily found and the bar scene offers similar diversity.

With so much going on, Koh Phangan has something to offer visitors from all parts of the globe and different walks of life. This island is smaller than its neighbour Koh Samui, but its natural beauty and rich culture make it a must see spot for anyone travelling to Thailand.
