1st Choice for Holiday Rentals on Koh Phangan

Holiday Koh Phangan

Located just a half an hour boat ride from the more developed holiday mecca of Koh Samui, its sister island Koh Phangan is a spectacular, natural escape that boasts some of the best beaches in the whole of Thailand.

Most of Koh Phangan's hot spots are easily accessed by paved road, although a four-wheel drive vehicle may be advisable for those heading off the beaten track, as some of the less visited areas can be difficult to reach, especially in the rainy season. A few of the island's most picturesque bays can only be reached by speedboat or local long tail fishing boat, both of which can be easily arranged, either for short trips between beaches or longer excursions to visit the best snorkelling spots and hidden coastal treasures.

Koh Phangan is known around the world for its monthly Full Moon Party and Had Rin beach is the centre of hedonistic activity during this global gathering. The event attracts up to twenty thousand revellers in any given month, both first timers and more experienced world beaters, who head to Koh Phangan to dance, drink and de-stress. The party has become a must attend event for many travellers, yet in reality, it is just a small part of the island's appeal. Hardened partygoers often ignore the island's more relaxed, natural side, but plenty of other visitors make the most of Phangan's peaceful environment, partaking in one of the many health and wellness activities on offer around the island, such as yoga, massage and alternative healing therapies.

Another peaceful alternative is to visit Thansadet, Koh Phangan’s most visited and revered national park. Past Kings of Thailand have even graced the park with their presence, spreading the island's fame throughout the country and more recently prompting the Tourism Authority to promote Koh Phangan internationally as an eco-destination. Active visitors can also trek to the peak of Khao Ra, the island’s highest mountain, where they enjoy unrivalled panoramic views of the forest and dramatic coastline. Local guides can be employed to lead the way through the hills along narrow jungle paths - a memorable adventure indeed.

Other activities available to visitors on Koh Phangan include a wide range of water sports, such as snorkelling, diving, kiteboarding and wakeboarding, while inland visitors can go elephant trekking, mountain biking or canopy riding. After a day of fun and action, the choices for good food are equally appealing and diverse. Visitors can try out the tasty street food served at the various stalls in Haad Rin or Thongsala, or opt for more indulgent dining choices at one of the island's many international restaurants, which serve anything from Italian home cooked fare to Israeli cuisine and even fresh to sushi. Many local Thai restaurants on Koh Phangan also serve fresh seafood at very reasonable prices.
